Domestic Violence Support Groups

Virtual Domestic violence support groups

Session Time: Thursdays 6-7:30 PM
Our virtual support groups are a confidential space to share and learn with your peers. This is not group therapy. We request you be in a quiet, safe space to attend this group virtually. Group facilitation is primarily in English, although facilitators are fluent in Tamil and Hindi.

The Purpose of Support Groups is to:

  • Provide emotional support for women as they work through the impact of domestic violence.

  • Help survivors make sense of what they are experiencing and provide validation and resources from their peers.

  • Provide a safe and comfortable place to talk about abuse and to encourage peers to share their experiences as it is an opportunity to get connected and to know that you are not alone.

  • Provide coping strategies and break isolation around domestic violence.

  • Create a positive environment, healthy relationships that are trusting and caring.

  • Learn about domestic violence and its effects on you and your children.

  • Learn about safety strategies.

At the end of every support group session, I feel lighter and don’t feel as isolated.
